What is it that you live for? Everyone lives for something and whatever you live for becomes your god. John Calvin once said that our minds are "idol factories" because they are constantly creating new idols to worship. As Christians, we are called to live for God and to bring Him glory. I understand that our mental illnesses make us more susceptible to being selfish, but we must resist that temptation. Jesus commands us to die to ourselves and follow Him. Will we do this perfectly? I certainly do not, but when I fail I know that there is forgiveness in Christ and I am not condemned. Beloved, what do you need to do today in order to die to yourself?
